Wood & Co Coffee is on the lookout for a motivated and detail-oriented Coffee Roaster to join our Brunswick-based team.

We source, roast and supply specialty coffee with a focus on sustainability, traceability and flavour. Our blend and single origin roasting is at the heart of what we do – your role will be key to delivering a consistent, high-quality product to cafes and customers across Australia.

This hands-on, Permanent Part-time role (3 – 4 days/week) is perfect for someone with a strong work ethic, a passion for great coffee, and an appreciation for systems, structure and quality.

About the Role:

As our new Roaster, you’ll take ownership of the roasting process – executing all blend and single origin roasts, managing daily and weekly roast schedules, and maintaining equipment to a high standard.

You’ll collaborate with our Director of Operations and Director of Coffee, and work closely with the production and QC team to meet dispatch timelines and maintain consistency across every roast.

This role is suited to someone who thrives on self directing in a methodical, focused environment, and who wants to build on their roasting experience in a supportive, quality-driven setting.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Roast all blends and single origins to profile
• Following established roasting protocols and safety procedures
• Record roast data accurately and maintain production records
• Weigh, blend and prepare green coffee to recipe
• Cup and assess roasted coffee for quality and consistency
• Maintain roasting and production equipment on schedule
• Assist with green coffee intake and inventory management
• Contribute to daily and weekly cleaning of the roastery
• Support the wider production and QC team where needed

Our ideal new Roaster brings:

• Proven experience roasting coffee in a commercial setting
• Experience in QC of specialty coffee with an advanced, confident palate
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow – and improve on – established systems
• A proactive mindset and strong time management skills
• Confidence using Cropster or similar roasting software
• A team player approach, valuing quality, communication and continuous improvement
• Care about the people behind the coffee and shares our values of integrity, sustainability and quality

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re self-motivated, organised and mechanically minded. You love working solo but communicate well and collaborate easily when needed. You take pride in your workspace, find calm in routines, and are always looking for ways to improve process and precision.
