The University of Queensland Student Union (UQU) is a not-for-profit organisation, independent of the University of Queensland that supports and represents the student community by actively promoting a positive, fun, healthy and supportive student Experience. This is a unique organisation, operating numerous food, beverage, entertainment and retail outlets on UQ campuses, as well as Student Advocacy and Support, and student clubs and societies at St Lucia and Gatton Campuses and Banyo Cafe & Bar at ACU Brisbane. UQU employs over 150 staff, a percentage of whom, being elected students, change annually.

The Nuts and Bolts

We are looking for customer service driven individuals to join our team in our Banyo Cafe & Bar outlet as Food & Beverage Attendants. The roles involve food preparation, delivering exceptional customer service and café duties including stocktaking and cleaning within a fun and collaborative team.

Multiple roles are on offer, providing regular daytime hours of 7am-3pm Monday to Friday (negotiable). Ideal for working parents, those looking to return to the workforce, or people looking for great work-life balance!

Is this you?

You have a genuine passion for customer service delivery, are friendly and approachable and have great attention to detail skills. You thrive working in a fast-paced environment and are willing to lend a hand in all areas of the outlet wherever you can. You have excellent interpersonal skills complimented with your positive attitude to create a fun and vibrant environment.

We do require some experience, in particular:

Food handling, preparation and serving experience
Ability of up-selling of retail, promotion and value add items
Excellent customer service plus Cash handling / POS experience
Experience with basic food prep desirable
Sound WHS and Manual Handling knowledge and practices
Sound knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene
Ability to work well under pressure with a positive attitude in a fast paced and high demanding environment
Pride in personal appearance and presentation
