Takashiya is a splendid and exclusive Japanese fine dining restaurant with unique Omakase experience and casual dining sake and whisky bar led by executive chef Takashi Nami. The Courier Mail newspaper described the restaurant “inside the stunning venue is food equally as aesthetically pleasing (and delicious)”. The weekend edition calls it “delicate flavours, fresh ingredients and more than a touch of showmanship” Takashiya was the only Japanese restaurant listed by Courier Mail as the top 20 restaurants in Brisbane in 2021. Takashiya has also won OpenTalbe diners’ choice award in 2021 and also the Japanese Restaurant winner of Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence 2022.

Located in Southbank and as part of the Emporium Hotel, we are searching for a energetic, hand on, chef to join our small and friendly team.

The roles and responsibilities are:

day to day running of the kitchen
prepping and cooking
assistance in menu design using seasonal produce on a regular basis
A successful candidate should have the following attributes:

Have good knowledge of Japanese cuisine
Have Sushi and Sashimi experience
Must have restaurant experience (fine dining experience is preferred)
Must have a Valid full time working visa (residency or Australian citizen is preferred)
Must speak good English (Japanese speaking is preferred)
Commitment to high quality and be consistent
Have desire to learn and continuous skill development
Reliable and hardworking
Creative and passionate about food
Share your skill and experience with other team members
