Head chef position in a busy, well-established cafe in Collingwood, operating Monday to Friday only.

Lemon Middle & Orange is on the hunt for a passionate and motivated chef who is keen for a challenge. LM&O serves delicious food & coffee to busy corporate locals. The 60-seat café is owner-operated, with a small, fun and committed team with all members working 5 days. Kitchen and FOH work hand in hand to deliver the best customer experience.

· You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen with your team of 2 cooks.

· You will work closely with the owner and will be encouraged to share and put forward recommendations to improve sales (menu, dishes, specials, etc) and productivity (costing, suppliers, rostering, etc).

· You will create inspiring and beautiful seasonal menus that can be prepared in a timely manner for a corporate crowd often in a rush.

· You will aim at growing our locals base and increase kitchen sales from both the display fridge and the menu. You will work with the owner to develop a catering offer for surrounding businesses.

· You will be responsible for the maintenance of a clean kitchen & equipment.

Skills & experience:

· 2 years minimum experience in a busy cafe kitchen in a similar role or for an ambitious chef de partie looking for new opportunities.

· Must have a passion for cafe cuisine, be up to date with latest culinary trends and be able to make not only delicious but also beautiful dishes. Taking great pride in the food you produce is a must.

· Have high work ethic and ability to be the leader of a small team.

· Demonstrate aptitude for preparation and planning, with strong organisational and time management skills.

· Must be calm and composed when things get busy.

· Personal presentation & communication skills are imperative, along with a positive energy & attitude. Our open kitchen will have you interacting with customers directly.

· Possess Australian working rights
