Head Barista & Shift Supervisor at Underwood
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Head Barista & Shift Supervisor to lead our coffee and front-of-house operations at our busy Underwood café. Known for our vibrant atmosphere, high-quality coffee, and strong service culture, this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in setting high standards.
As the Head Barista & Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading the front-of-house team, maintaining consistency and quality in all beverage/ food items leaving the bar & kitchen, and ensuring every customer receives an exceptional experience from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
-Lead and oversee daily bar and café operations, including opening the store
-Train, mentor, and supervise barista and FOH staff to maintain high standards
-Ensure consistent coffee quality, workflow efficiency, and presentation
-Ensure all drinks/acai/ sandwiches are presented and prepared correctly
-Deliver outstanding customer service and confidently resolve issues when required
-Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and presentation across the café
-Uphold all health, safety, and food compliance standards
-Work closely with management to improve systems, service, and team performance
Requirements
-Minimum of 2 years of senior or head barista experience in a high-volume café environment
-Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team
-Minimum of 1 year of experience managing staff in a hospitality environment
-Excellent coffee knowledge and confidence on espresso machines
-Calm, organised, and efficient under pressure
-Strong communication and customer-service skills
-Flexible availability, including weekends and peak periods
-Must be able to open and start at 5.45am
