Chef / Short Order cook – Virginia Golf Club

The Virginia Golf Club, situated in Brisbane’s inner northern suburbs is looking for an experienced Chef or Short Order cook to work within our busy catering team in preparing meals for our ‘Australian style’ bistro menu for club members & guests.

Our club has been in existence for more than 90 years and is widely recognised as one of the friendliest clubs in Brisbane.

We offer a friendly and positive working environment working with our team of 3 other chefs in supplying quality and great value food from our varied menu. Either a qualified Chef or an experienced short order cook, you can expect your hours of work to be rostered over 7 days per week with latest finishing time of 5.00 pm Sun-Wed, & 9.00 pm Thurs-Sat. What we will value highly is your ability to work in a small team, your sense of humour, good communication skills and a preparedness to get the job done and of course, your chef/cooking skills (& to have fun).

Initially we expect to employ on a casual basis with an expectation of at least 30 hours+ per week but this is negotiable as is the wage payable dependent on experience & skills. Weekend & Public Holiday work will attract additional penalty rates in accordance with the Registered & Licenced Clubs award which will also provide the basis for employment conditions.

Our food offer is ‘modern Australian bistro’ in style, burgers, steaks, pizza, sandwiches & wraps etc. day to day but we also cater for set menu functions, seminars, weddings etc on a regular basis. Our menu is regularly updated to maintain currency and you can expect to be involved in menu development & costing. Our Catering business is enjoying strong growth and we have plans for additional positive developments of our food business.
