The Role

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Centre Chef to join the team at Believe Early Education at Logan Reserve to produce high quality Morning Tea, Lunch and Afternoon tea each day. You will also be required to work alongside our Centre Chef, assisting with day to day operations of the kitchen.

This role is only offering 4-5 hours a day (9.00am – 2.00pm), Monday-Thursday (possibly leading into a Friday in the near future).

The right candidate will be replacing the Centre Chef for Maternity Leave in January 2025.

Position Accountabilities

Assist the Chef in providing nutritional balanced meals for the children in the care of the service
Food preparation for Morning tea, Lunch and Afternoon tea.
Meal plating and delivery of food to allocated classrooms.
Assisting the chef with allergy and medical and/or intolerance requirements during food preparation.
Safe food handling for allergic/anaphylactic children.
Maintaining kitchen cleanliness and hygiene in line with Food Safety Program.
Maintain kitchen areas in an immaculate state of cleanliness and tidiness at all times.
Implementing high level of food safety standards at all times, while having a strong sense of children’s nutritional and dietary requirements.
Comply with regulatory and legislative requirements.

Selection Criteria:   

Experience in a similar role
Well organised with exceptional time management skills
Ability to work autonomously and within a team
Sound knowledge of relevant statutory requirements
Committed to hygiene practices of the highest standard
Ability to follow directives and provide efficient kitchen support
Effective communicator
Current Qld Working with Children Check
Current First Aid and CPR certificates
Current Food Safety/ Food Handler’s Certification
